KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 159,551 tonnes of cargo comprising 118,742 tonnes of import cargo and 40,809 tonnes of export cargo including 4,819 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 118,742 tonnes comprised of 24,064 tonnes of containerised cargo; 9,121 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,593 tonnes of sugar; 12,745 tonnes of DAP; 11,309 tonnes of wheat and 59,910 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 40,809 tonnes comprised of 40,749 tonnes of containerised cargo and 60 tonnes of bulk cargo.

As many as 4,819 containers comprising of 1,441 containers import and 3,378 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 612 of 20’s and 277 of 40’s loaded while 259 of 20’s and 08 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 818 of 20’s and 1,045 of 40’s loaded containers while 90 of 20’s and 190 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were eight ships namely Southampton Express, Castor-N, MOL Grandour, MT Lahore, Green Belt, Rana, Costas and Marmoratai carrying containers oil tanker, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were three vessels viz. Gdynia Trader, Marmoratai and Costas carrying containers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There are three ships namely Gdynia Trader, MT Karachi and Gulf Trader carrying containers, oil tanker and wheat respectively expected to sail on Thursday while another ship namely Ulanga carrying containers is expected to sail on Friday.

There are three vessels viz. Xin Shanghai, Redros and Kouros carrying containers, wheat and mogas respectively due to arrive on Thursday while four vessels viz. Northern Discovery, Cosco Rotterdam, Minoan Grace and Ionic Storm carrying containers, sugar and clinker respectively are expected to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 194,761 tonnes comprising 134,192 tonnes of import cargo and 60,569 tonnes of export cargo including 4,630 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 134,192 tonnes includes 43,000 tonnes of coal; 19,050 tonnes of LNG; 000 tonnes of palm oil; 12,000 tonnes of soyabean; 26,000 tonnes of mogas; 3,400 tonnes of chemical and 30,742 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 60,569 tonnes includes 3,341 tonnes of cement and 57,228 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 4,630 containers comprising of 1,618 containers import and 3,012 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were four ships namely MSC Pina, Esperaanza-N, Tiger Winter and Duhail carrying containers, chemical and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while three ship namely Maersk Santosa, Indigo Flora and Leader carrying containers, coal and mogas respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, chemical, soyabean, sugar, LPG, LNG and mogas respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as fifteen vessels viz. BBC Frsa, Josephine Maersk, MS Amis Wisdom-III, Simurgh, Serene Amolia, Star Altair, Oceanic Leader, Tomson Gas, Gas Zeus, BW Despina, Ploutos, Khair Pure, Al-Salam-II, Facility and Arawana carrying containers, steel coil, coal, soyabean, sugar, LPG, mogas, gas oil, furnace oil and palm kernel respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three ships viz. Express Athens, Josephine Maersk and Ploutos carrying containers and mogas respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There was one ship namely Express Athens carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday while two ships namely Maersk Jayawijaya and Baltic Bridge carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
