ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz on Sunday said the “crime and politics have to be separated” and the “red line has to be followed in the international interest of Pakistan and politics.”
In a tweet ion Urdu, the minister said the nation “understands the divergence between the interest of Nawaz Sharif and national interest. Nawaz Sharif’s cronies have to admit this fact.”
The minister’s tweet came in the apparent backdrop of the remarks made by Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ayaz Sadiq regarding arrest of Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot Abhinandan Varthaman at the hands of Pakistan’s military on February 27, 2019. The PAF had shot down two IAF fighter jets and arrested the Indian pilot in response to an airspace violation by IAF a day earlier on February 26, 2020.
Sadiq is under fire from Pakistan’s public and political circles for allegedly trying to undermine PAF’s success against IAF.
The information minister strongly criticized Ayaz, PML-N leadership and other opposition parties in Senate earlier on Thursday for “serving the designs of the enemy by trying to create instability and unrest in the country.
Speaking on the floor of the house, Faraz said “Your brave PAF shot down two IAF fighter jets on February 27, 2019. And by trying to undermine that historic achievement, you are serving the agenda of the enemy.”
He said the enemies of Pakistan were trying to sabotage the all important China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, and accused Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) of serving the interests of the enemy. “There are many enemies of the CPEC project and we should not play in the hands of enemies—Our people and armed forces valiantly combated the war against terrorism. We need to promote unity amongst our ranks to defeat the conspiracies being hatched by our enemies.”
