Karachi package: Construction of Korangi road, nullah to be carried out: Shallwani
KARACHI: Administrator Karachi Iftikhar Ali Shallwani on Sunday said that construction of Korangi 5000 road and nullah would be carried out under Karachi package.
“A modern treatment plant would be established to treat waste of leather industry and the treated water be used for plantation. The government cannot do every work alone, other institutions should also cooperate in this regard,” the Administrator passed these remarks during luncheon in his honour. Pakistan Tanners Association Chairman Abdus Salam, Former Chairman Gulzar Feroz, KATI Former President Danish Khan, Vice Chairman Pakistan Tanners Association Tariq Mehmood, and other industrialists also attended the luncheon.
Earlier, the Administrator also visited Korangi 5000 road and to ascertain how much issues industrialists were facing. He also checked the treatment plant.
Speaking to luncheon, Shallwani said Pakistan’s leather items have a large number of demand abroad especially in South Africa and Gulf countries. The industry could play vital role in Pakistan’s economy if paid attention.
The Administrator said that besides construction of 5000 road, construction of drain, laying of sewerage lines, plantation and installation of sign boards would also be made.
Speaking on the occasion, PTA Chairman Abdus Salam said that there are 175 industries in the area. He said the people of Bilal Colony, and Shareefabad dump garbage on the road as well as land mafia also encroached the area.
He said sewerage water is drained out through storm water drains as there are no separate lines for sewerage. Salam said that PTA would fully cooperate with KMC in development works.
The Administrator said that the issues would be resolved on priority basis as hundreds of thousands of people are associated with the industries.
