KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 269,371 tonnes of cargo comprising 194,544 tonnes of import cargo and 74,827 tonnes of export cargo including 8,711 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargos of 194,544 tonnes comprised of 109,064 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,421 tonnes of sugar; 16,976 tonnes of DAP; 16,276 tonnes of wheat and 47,440 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 74,827 tonnes comprised of 27,618 tonnes of containerised cargo; 46,509 tonnes of clinkers and 700 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 8,711 containers comprising of 5,952 containers import and 2,759 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,942 of 20's and 1,765 of 40's loaded while 372 of 20's and 54 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 260 of 20's and 212 of 40's loaded containers while 465 of 20's and 805 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Northern Discovery, Hyundai Oakland, AS Sophia, Aegiali and Summit Africa carrying containers and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were ten vessels viz. Cosco Rotterdam, MSC Marianna, AS Sophia, Aegiali, Cosco Aden, Diyala, Baltic Bridge, Nordocean, Tiger Perseverance and Daimongate carrying containers, oil tankers and wheat respectively currently at the berths.
There are three ships namely MSC Marianna, Diyala and Ionic Storm carrying containers and clinker respectively expected to sail on Monday while another ship namely Cosco Aden carrying containers is expected to sail on Tuesday.
There are six vessels viz. CSAV Tyndall, Oriental Rose, Bow Cardinal, Dong Fu Shan, Grace and Pac Acrux carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, clinker and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Monday while six vessels viz. Thorsky, Botany Bay, Cosco Belgium, Hyundai Paramount, MT Quetta and Arrow Lady carrying containers, oil tanker and wheat respectively are expected to arrive on Tuesday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 125,097 tonnes comprising 111,509 tonnes of import cargo and 13,588 tonnes of export cargo including 1,272 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 111,509 tonnes includes 18,311 tonnes of steel coil; 55,417 tonnes of LNG; 8,000 tonnes of palm oil; 11,000 tonnes of gas oil; 15,000 tonnes of wheat; 3,767 tonnes of sugar; 3,400 tonnes of chemical; 4,203 tonnes of LPG and 10,811 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 13,588 tonnes includes 231 tonnes of cement and 13,357 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 1,272 containers comprising of 569 containers import and 703 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There was one ship namely MSC Cherui-3 carrying containers, sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while another ship namely Gas Zeus carrying LPG is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, wheat, sugar, LPG, LNG, gas oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as fifteen vessels viz. BBC Ursa, ER Tianshan, Simurgh, Serene Amelia, Flornity SW, Star Altair, Golden Denise, Ginga Kite, Gas Yodla, BW Despina, Lia, Al-Salam-II, Facility, Arawana and Ocean Venture carrying containers, steel coil, coal, soyabean, chemical, LPG, gas oil, furnace oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four ships viz. ER Tianshan, MSC Asya, Sphene and Gas Yodla carrying containers and LPG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Monday.
There were two ships namely MSC Asya and Sphene carrying containers due to arrive on Monday while another ship namely Maersk Seleter carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
