KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 175,010 tonnes of cargo comprising 111,914 tonnes of import cargo and 63,096 tonnes of export cargo including 8,957 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargos of 111,914 tonnes comprised of 43,070 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,096 tonnes of bulk cargo; 3,380 tonnes of sugar; 10,539 tonnes of DAP; 17,579 tonnes of wheat and 34,250 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 63,096 tonnes comprised of 49,956 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,070 tonnes of clinkers; 3,770 tonnes of iron steel scrap and 5,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 8,957 containers comprising of 3,352 containers import and 5,605 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 840 of 20's and 1,129 of 40's loaded while 28 of 20's and 113 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,448 of 20's and 564 of 40's loaded containers while 885 of 20's and 1,072 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely MSC Marianna, Diyala, Baltic Bridge, Ionic Storm and Al Adailiah carrying containers, clinkers and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were seven vessels viz. CSAV Tyndall, Thorsky, Hyundai Paramount, MT Shalamar, Arihant, Pac Acrux and Lucky Trader carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There are three ships namely CSAV Tyndall, Thorsky and Tiger Perseverance carrying containers and oil tanker respectively expected to sail on Tuesday.

There are four vessels viz. Cosco Belgium, MTM Savannah, Dong Fu Shan and Arrow Lady carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and wheat respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while four vessels viz. Botany Bay, Argo-B, Antigoni B and Mohar carrying containers, DAP and cement respectively are expected to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 155,929 tonnes comprising 143,579 tonnes of import cargo and 12,350 tonnes of export cargo including 4,000 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 143,579 tonnes includes 21,416 tonnes of steel coil; 2,838 tonnes of LNG; 8,000 tonnes of palm oil; 33,000 tonnes of gas oil; 12,500 tonnes of wheat; 1,275 tonnes of sugar; 900 tonnes of LPG and 63,650 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 12,350 tonnes includes 12,350 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 4,000 containers comprising of 3,350 containers import and 650 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

There were two ships namely Amis Wisdom-III and British Listener carrying steel coils and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three ships namely ER Tianshan, Bum Shin and Khair Pure carrying containers, palm oil and gas oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, wheat, sugar, LPG, LNG, gas oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as fifteen vessels viz. BBC Ursa, Simurgh, Serene Amelia, Eternity SW, Star Altair, Golden Denise, Ginga Kite, Gas Yodla, Lucent, BW Despina, Lia, Al-Salam-II, Facility, Arawana and Ocean Venture carrying steel coil, project cargo, coal, soyabean, chemical, sugar, LPG, gas oil, furnace oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five ships viz. Maersk Seleter, BBC Ursa, Gas Yodla, Facility and Ocean Venture carrying containers, project cargo, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

There was one ship namely Maersk Seleter carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday while another ship namely MOL Generosity carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday.
