KARACHI: Karachi Tax Bar Association (KTBA) has requested the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to grant general condonation of 60 days to the taxpayers to file revised Annexure H and F of sales tax returns related to tax periods from July 2019 onwards to e-file pending refunds claims.

In a letter sent to the Dr Muhammad Ashfaq Ahmed, Member IR (Operations), KTBA highlighted that there are anomalies in Annexure H and F due to prolonged pendency and contradictions in its supporting documents have rendered a sizeable quantum of refund claims pending with the

FBR. Therefore, all such taxpayers are required to file revised Annexure F and H from July 2019 on a sequential basis.

Although, the commissioner Inland Revenue is empowered to condone such cases on case to case basis under section 74 of the Sales tax Act 1990, a general condonation and extension of time limit by 60 days would save the taxpayers to file annexure F and H without wasting time.

Keeping the said in view, KTBA has requested the FBR to issue general condonation to facilitate the taxpayers in allowing their sales tax refunds which were promised to be issued within 72 hours of filing of refunds claim.
