ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the relevant departments to submit their progress report in a week regarding the proposals received from Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD).
The prime minister was chairing a weekly meeting of National Coordination Committee on Housing, Construction and Development. The ABAD informed the meeting that 74 projects worth of Rs28 billion have been approved in Sindh and Rs 55 billion economic activates are expected to be created.
The meeting was also informed about the increase in cement consumption from Sep 2019 to Sep 2020. There was 17 percent increase in the sale of cement and 19 percent in steel was recorded.
The meeting was informed that in Punjab, since July, 4714 projects have been approved and an historic increase of 5.73 million tons cement was noted. Governor State Bank of Pakistan informed the meeting that private banks have been asked to provide training regarding provision of loans so that those taking loans for construction of houses could be facilitated. The prime minister directed that approval of the projects should be made easier.
