KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 114,004 tonnes of cargo comprising 85,650 tonnes of import cargo and 28,354 tonnes of export cargo including 2,367 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.

The total import cargos of 85,650 tonnes comprised of 16,535 tonnes of containerised cargo; 858 tonnes of bulk cargo; 3,428 tonnes of sugar; 6,613 tonnes of DAP; 13,805 tonnes of wheat and 44,411 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 28,354 tonnes comprised of 20,354 tonnes of containerised cargo and 8,000 tonnes of loose bulk cement.

As many as 2,367 containers comprising of 1,162 containers import and 1,205 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 390 of 20's and 382 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 04 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 448 of 20's and 324 of 40's loaded containers while 97 of 20's and 06 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were three ships namely Botany Bay, Honey Badger and PAC Acrux carrying containers, wheat and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. MOL Generosity, Actuaria, Pamba-1, MT Quetta, Dong Fu Shan and Grace carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and clinkers respectively currently at the berths.

There are two ships namely MTM Savannah and Dong Fu Shan carrying containers and chemical respectively expected to sail on Friday while three ships namely MOL Generosity, MT Quetta and Kouros carrying containers, oil tanker and mogas respectively are expected to sail on Saturday.

There are six vessels viz. Wan Hai-613, MSC Pilar, Sunray, Pioneer Star, Chemroad Sky, and Jin Bo carrying containers, oil tanker, cement, mogas and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday while four vessels viz. DM Dragon, OEL Jumeirah, Shiling and Xin Qin Huang carrying containers respectively are expected to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 183,277 tonnes comprising 151,604 tonnes of import cargo and 31,673 tonnes of export cargo including 3,682 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 151,604 tonnes includes 24,147 tonnes of c oal; 25,481 tonnes of LNG; 30,000 tonnes of furnace oil; 7,650 tonnes of palm oil; 6,965 tonnes of steel coil; 15,000 tonnes of soyabean; 9,641 tonnes of chemical; 3,525 tonnes of sugar; 551 tonnes of LPG and 38,285 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 31,673 tonnes includes 31,673 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,682 containers comprising of 2,015 containers import and 1,667 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There were three ships namely Simurgh, Gas Yadla and Al Sahla carrying steel coil and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while three ships namely MOL Courage, Aldi Wave and Facility carrying containers and furnace oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, sugar, soyabean, chemical, furnace oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as sixteen vessels viz. Safmarine Nyassa, African Leopard, Fralzis Star, Eternity SW, Golden Denise, Lucent, Chemroute Sky, Cool Explorer, Epic Sardinia, Epic Barmuda, Gas Athena, Gas Amazon, Lia, Al-Salam-II, BW Despina and Arawana carrying containers, coal, soyabean, chemical, sugar, LPG, gas oil, mogas and palm kernel respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five ships viz. Safmarine Nyassa, Lucent, Chemroute Sky, Epic Barmuda and BW Despina carrying containers, sugar, chemical, LPG and mogas respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal Grains and Fertilizer Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday. There are no ships due to arrive on Friday.
