KARACHI: PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has said that Mian Nawaz Sharif has the right to speak as he wishes. This was stated by Sindh Minister for Information Syed Nasir Shah in a statement he issued here on Friday. Nasir Shah, while clarifying the excerpts from the interview of the PPP chairman to a foreign news organization, said that the interview should have been read in its entirety instead of going through its headlines and subheadings.
The chairman in his interview had said that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) came into being as a result of a multi-party conference convened by the Pakistan People's Party, and, therefore, the PPP was fully committed to the PDM agenda.
"We stand by our joint resolution, which calls for an end to the role of establishment in politics," Nasir Shah quoted his party chairman as having said during the interview.
The PPP chairman said, "For the PPP, it is not just about the 2018 elections, but we have been facing this issue for generations, even when we won elections in 1988 and 2008. We had accepted the results despite our serious reservations."
The provincial minister said that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari believed that the solution was not inquiring into just one election but all elections. "We need a Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) so that an end can be brought to this chapter once and for all," the chairman was quoted as having said.
