ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) once again deferred the government's plea, seeking appointment of counsel to defend Kulbhushan Jadhav, as no one appeared on behalf of the India spy.
A special bench of the IHC headed by the Chief Justice Athar Minallah and comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, heard the government's plea seeking the appointment of a legal representative for Kulbhushan Jadhav for filing his review petition against his death sentence.
Justice Miangul Aurangzeb participated through a video-link as he was on leave from Nov 9th to 13th.
Attorney General for Pakistan Khalid Javed Khan appeared on behalf of the federation.
He said the Indian spy was given a detailed briefing, particularly regarding his right to avail the statutory remedy provided under the International Court of Justice (Review and Reconsideration) Ordinance, 2020.
The AGP stated that Jadhav was also informed about the judgment of the International Court of Justice and his rights under Article 36 of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations. He further said that the Indian government was also informed regarding the proceedings of this Court, but there was no response from them.
