LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution condemning the publication of blasphemous caricatures in France.
The session was started 2 hours 31 minutes late under the chair of Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervez Elahi. The resolution was presented by Law Minister Raja Basharat.
PML-N MPA Khalil Tahir Sindhu condemned the statement of President and appealed to the people that they should boycott French products.
The Punjab Assembly also unanimously passed a resolution of fixing the support price of paddy at Rs 2300 per maund.
Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentary leader Syed Hassan Murtaza while speaking on the floor of the House said that political figures were included in the agriculture policy making in order to oblige their blue eyed.
He demanded that government should make national agriculture policy. He condemned the killing of farmer during a protest in Lahore. He demanded that a judicial commission should be constituted which will pinpoint the people who were involved in the incident and give them exemplary punishment.
He welcomed the decision of fixing the support price of wheat at Rs 2000 per maund.
Farmers should be given soft loans as well as government should ensure that they can get good quality pesticides, he said.
Earlier, during the session members of the opposition and treasury benches were chanting slogans against each other.
While talking to media after the session Provincial Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Raja Basharat has said that the government considers its responsibility to bring back the looted resources and bring the Model Town killers to a logical conclusion. He also said that blood of the martyrs of Model Town is demanding justice.
Criticizing the opposition's uproar in the Assembly, the Law minister said there was no government business on private members' day. It is the tradition of the Assembly to bring the bills of public interest only. It has also been a tradition that quorum is not indicated on Private Member's Day but the attitude of the Opposition on Private Member's Day was extremely undemocratic which was less to be condemned, he said
"The attitude of the opposition in the meeting for two days is not democratic. The Law minister said that the chairman NAB had recovered most of the money from the corrupt people in the tenure of present government.
