KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 175,406 tonnes of cargo comprising 123,632 tonnes of import cargo and 51,774 tonnes of export cargo including 7,804 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 123,632 tonnes comprised of 49,601 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,118 tonnes of sugar; 14,294 tonnes of DAP; 10,907 tonnes of wheat; 20 tonnes of plam kernel expeller and 47,692 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 51,774 tonnes comprised of 49,318 tonnes of containerised cargo and 2,456 tonnes of cement.

As many as 7,804 containers comprising of 3,725 containers import and 4,079 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,043 of 20’s and 1,306 of 40’s loaded while nil of 20’s and 35 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,456 of 20’s and 690 of 40’s loaded containers while 435 of 20’s and 404 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Esperanza-N, Mayssan, YM Cosmos, DM Dragon and Kedros carrying containers, oil tanker and wheat respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were two vessels viz. Paris Express and AS Sara carrying containers respectively currently at the berths.

There are two ships namely OEL Kedarnath and Paris Express carrying containers respectively expected to sail on Wednesday while two ships namely MT Lahore and Diamond Gate carrying oil tanker and wheat respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.

There is one vessel viz. Xin Qing Dao carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday while nine vessels viz. Bridge, Mandala, Stove Tide, Rainbow Island, Xing Hao Hai, Emmakris, V Avocet, Malcolm and Pine Arrow carrying containers, oil tanker, cement, chemical, clinker, wheat and general cargo respectively are expected to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 221,948 tonnes comprising 196,792 tonnes of import cargo and 25,156 tonnes of export cargo including 4,127 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 196,792 tonnes includes 57,875 tonnes of coal; 27,165 tonnes of LNG; 38,710 tonnes of gas oil; 14,694 tonnes of palm oil; 3,468 tonnes of sugar; 1,623 tonnes of LPG and 53,257 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 25,156 tonnes includes 25,156 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 4,127 containers comprising of 2,803 containers import and 1,324 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There were four ships namely Maersk Brooklyn, Epic Sardinia, Cool Explorer and Al-Salam-II carrying containers, LPG, LNG and gas oil respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely African Leopard carrying coal is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of twelve ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, sugar, soyabean, LPG, LNG, gas oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as twelve vessels viz. MSC Chiara, Asia Zircon-1, Eternity SW, Gulf Moon, Zita Schulte, Golden Denise, Glory Harvest, Gas Amazon, Clear Ocean Maritz, Lia, Harizon and Bel Hai carrying containers, coal, chemical, LPG, gasoline, gas oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. Maersk Chiara, Asia Zircon, Gulf Moon and Lia carrying containers, coal, chemical and gas oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There are four ships namely Josephine Maersk, George Washington, CMA CGM Ivanhoc and Tiger Summer carrying containers and coal respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
