It is heartening to note that federal as well as provincial governments have finally decided to launch “Tackling Malnutrition Induced Stunting in Pakistan” at a total cost of approximately Rs350 billion to deal with the challenge of critical issue of malnutrition and stunted growth among children.
The Council of Common Interests must be praised for taking this step. It is quite unfortunate that the growth of 60 percent children in the country is severely or moderately stunted by malnutrition. It is true that the federal and provincial governments have displayed the required political will. But the final results in this regard will be the only way to judge their sincerity of purpose.
