(Karachi) Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the past rulers did not pay attention on the development of Balochistan and instead, promoted their own interests, ARY News reported.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of social welfare and uplift schemes in Turbat on Friday, he said that Balochistan lags far behind other provinces due lack of attention by former rulers.

He stated that youth of the province should utilize IT and other technological reforms to head forward in their lives.

Imran maintained "Today, we are left behind and the areas that are left behind are less educated."

"We will help Balochistan in every possible way," PM Imran Khan vowed, adding that his government would assist the province especially in the field of education.

The prime minister noted that virtual education started in the days of the coronavirus pandemic. "It is no longer necessary to study in cities," he said.

The prime minister also announced to increase the scholarships for the students of Balochistan from 185 to 360.

He said that the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf government will assist the students of Balochistan in every possible way. In the past, Balochistan lagged behind due to a lack of funding. Balochistan has never received as much funding as it did during the tenure of PTI government.

He said that “no society has developed without education. Knowledge makes man unique from other creatures. The people of Turbat are the future of Pakistan. Balochistan is in dire need of educated people.”

He said that the government is also planning to introduce Naya Pakistan Housing scheme in Balochistan to facilitate the low-income segments of the society.

Regarding coronavirus pandemic, he said that the second wave of the disease has hit the country and it is need of the hour to take precautionary measures to contain its spread. "People will have to follow SOPs and wear mask to curb the deadly virus," Imran stated.
