KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 114,252 tonnes of cargo comprising 91,427 tonnes of import cargo and 22,825 tonnes of export cargo including 5,037 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.

The total import cargos of 91,427 tonnes comprised of 43,888 tonnes of containerised cargo; 17,166 tonnes of bulk cargo; 3,208 tonnes of sugar; 13,397 tonnes of DAP; 10,822 tonnes of wheat; 1,996 tonnes of Plam Kernel Expeller and 950 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 22,825 tonnes comprised of 16,818 tonnes of containerised cargo and 6,007 tonnes of cement.

As many as 5,037 containers comprising of 3,210 containers import and 1,827 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,195 of 20's and 880 of 40's loaded while 175 of 20's and 40 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 561 of 20's and 97 of 40's loaded containers while 234 of 20's and 419 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were two ships namely MT Lahore and V Avocet carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. Bridge, Xin Qing Dao, Rainbow Island, Stove Tide, V Avocet and Pine Arrow carrying containers, oil tanker, cement and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There are five ships namely Bridge, Shiling, Rainbow Island, Pioneer Star and Unison Jasper carrying containers, oil tanker, cement and DAP respectively expected to sail on Friday while another ship namely Diamond Gate carrying wheat is expected to sail on Saturday.

There are six vessels viz. KMTC Mumbai, Al Mahboobah, Brigitte, Jag Amisha, River Globe and Han Yi carrying containers, chemical, wheat, mogas and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday while four vessels viz. Tamina, Ubena, MT Karachi and Caribbean-1 carrying containers, oil tanker and white spirit respectively are expected to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 171,733 tonnes comprising 137,932 tonnes of import cargo and 33,801 tonnes of export cargo including 2,337 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 137,932 tonnes includes 49,236 tonnes of coal; 10,276 tonnes of chemical; 33,169 tonnes of gas oil; 14,800 tonnes of palm oil; 16,105 tonnes of soyabean; 3,744 tonnes of sugar and 10,602 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 33,801 tonnes includes 33,801 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,337 containers comprising of 558 containers import and 1,779 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There were three ships namely Josephine Maersk, Sea Delta and Horizon carrying containers, chemical and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Friday afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, sugar, soyabean, chemical, LPG, gas oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as sixteen vessels viz. CMA CGM Ivanhce, Maersk Jalan, Avocet, Eternity SW, Tiger Summer, Zita Schulte, Golden Denise, African Bari Bird, White Purl, Glory Harvest, Gas Amazon, Clear Ocean Maritz, SII Memphis, Southern Wolf, Hai De Li and Bei Hai carrying containers, steel coil, coal, chemical, cement, LPG, gasoline, gas oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five ships viz. CMA CGM Ivanhoce, Maersk Jalan, Ocean Isabella, Tiger Summer and Bie Hai carrying containers, coal, chemical and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday.

There was one ship namely Ocean Isabella carrying coal due to arrive on Friday while another ship namely Diyala carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday.
