Terming the decision regarding revival of cricketing ties between India and Pakistan as a "welcome step," skipper of Pakistan cricket team Misbah-ul Haq said on Monday it would not only help promote new talent but would also lead towards normalisation of ties between the two countries.
Talking to reporters here at Qaddafi Stadium, Misbah said, "Pak-India cricket series always remain a challenging one, providing opportunities to cricketers to perform." He said players of two countries also want to play against each other and restoration of cricketing ties between the two countries is a great move for world cricket.
He added that this move is good news for the people of the two countries. Misbah said in Pak-India matches, expectations are always high which provide good cricket.
Skipper of Twenty20 team Mohammad Hafeez told reporters on the occasion that this move is not only good news for the world of cricket but also for the people of two countries.
He hoped that Indian cricket team will also visit Pakistan after tour of Pakistan team. He said people of the two countries want to see cricket matches between the two countries.
It may be noted that India had suspended all sporting ties with Pakistan following the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks in which 176 persons lost their lives.
Pakistan cricket team will visit India in December to resume cricket rivalry against the neighbouring country.
Pakistan Cricket Board has welcomed the first proposed cricket series with India in five years, saying millions of fans would be delighted.
PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf said that Pakistan was still waiting for a formal invitation for the series, but said "it seems it will surely be held later this year".
