The production of air-conditioners and refrigerators decreased by 26.27 per cent and 3.24 per cent respectively during the month of May 2012 against the production of the same month of last year. According to the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), as many as 33,890 air-conditioners were produced during May 2012 against the production of 45,964 units during May 2011.
On the other hand, the production of refrigerators decreased from 109,646 units during May 2011 to 106,094 units during May 2012, the data revealed.
However, the production of deep freezers increased from 5,924 units during May 2011 to 6,879 units during May 2012, showing an increase of 16.12 per cent. Moreover, the production of air-conditioners decreased by 3.39 percent during July-May (2011-12) as compared to the same period of last year.
However, the production of refrigerators during the period under review increased from 887,449 last year to 959,799 units, showing an increase of 8.15 per cent.
