KARACHI: Abdul Rauf Ebrahim has been elected chairman Karachi Wholesale Grocers Association (KWGA) for 2021-22. Elections of the KWGA were held on Saturday for the post of chairman, while all other candidates were elected unopposed. Vote casting ratio was 83 percent as out of total 462 votes, some 383 votes were cast during the polling.
According to election commissioner announcement, Abdul Rauf Ebrahim, nominated by Cereal Association of Pakistan, has been elected chairman of the Association securing some 267 votes and his opponent Anwar Noor Muhammad, candidate of Anis Majeed Panel, got some 116 votes.
Malik Zulfiqar Ali elected unopposed Senior Vice Chairman, Muhammad Altaf Vice Chairman, Zahid Ali Bukhari General Secretary and Asif Sheikh elected Joint Secretary. Arif Muhammad Yousuf, Abdur Rehman Qureshi, Muhammad Aamir Nadeem, Fareed Ahmed, Arshad Arif, Muhammad Zubair Ashrafi, Muhammad Farooq, Muhammad Ashraf and Ali Ahmed Chuhan have been elected member governing body of the KWGA.
Muzzammil Chappal Chairman Cereal Association of Pakistan has congratulated the winning candidates and hoped that all office bearers will make all possible efforts for the betterment of wholesale trade of the commodities. He said that Abdul Rauf Ebrahim is well-known and a very active trader, of which he got over 70 percent, votes in the election.
