Construction of houses: Banks achieve target for disbursement of loans, NCC told
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan Thursday said Bundle Island and Ravi River projects would help resolve various economic and environmental issues of the country besides creating employment opportunities. The prime minister stated this while chairing Pakistan Island Development Authority and Ravi Urban Development Authority and National Coordination Committee on Housing and Construction Development.
The governor State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) informed the NCC meeting that banks have almost achieved the target for disbursement of loans for the construction of houses. The SBP has further instructed banks to provide facilities and more than 100 officials of the SBP were visiting banks to gather the information about the facilities being provided to consumers seeking loans for houses.
The chairman Capital Development Authority informed the meeting that the process of automation was in swift progress, and would be completed by the end of this month. He further stated that so far as many as four maps of commercial plots had been submitted to the CDA out of the 12 plots auctioned in the Blue Area.
Earlier, chairing a meeting of the Pakistan Island Development and Ravi Urban Development authorities meeting, the prime minister stated that there was a need to provide opportunities to overseas Pakistanis to become partner in those projects.
He also stressed the need for highlighting positive impact of those projects. The prime minister directed to frame a timeline to complete various phases of these projects. The meeting was informed that the Frontier Works Organization and the National Logistic Cell have started work on Ravi Urban Development project, and timeline for the completion of various phases of the project has been determined.
While talking to the Minister for Housing and Works Tariq Bashir Cheema, the prime minister stated that the government is committed to provide affordable housing to the people for which practical steps are being taken.
