A motorcyclist was killed when a bomb planted along Ali Shah Bokhari Road went off in the jurisdiction of Taimuria police station late Wednesday night. Five others including two Rangers personnel and a woman, sustained injuries.
According to SHO Jahangir Mehar, the incident took place in Sector 16-A of Buffer Zone, opposite Iqbal Garden, where an improvised device had been planted. It exploded when a Rangers' vehicle reached the spot. A man namely Zubair was killed.
Rangers personnel, who were identified as Ayaz and Tariq, were shifted to a private hospital. Civilians identified as Mushtaq, Iftikhar Ansar and a woman Shamim Akhtar were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH). He said that at the time of incident, the deceased, who used to work at a mobile shop in the Serena Market, was on his way to his home. Hospital sources said all injured persons were in a stable condition.
This was second such attack on Sindh Rangers while a 12-kgs of high explosive material was also found near the headquarters of Sachal Rangers in the past eight days.
