The ongoing wave of violence intensified, as 11 more persons including a cop and a political activist were gunned down in different parts of the city here on Wednesday. According to police and rescue sources, an activist of Pakistan Sunni Tehreek Pakistan (PST), Tahir, 36, was gunned down near Nala Stop in the limits of New Karachi police station.
Police said the victim received fatal bullet wounds on his head and died on the spot. They said the deceased was activist of STP. A cop, Sohail, 40, who took part in early 90s' Karachi Operation, was shot dead while another policeman, Shafqat Gondal, sustained bullet wounds when unidentified armed riders opened indiscriminate fie on them at Manghopir Road in the limits of Pak Colony police station.
Police said both the victims were deployed in intelligence wing of Pak colony police station. They said the motive behind the murder was yet to be ascertained.
A government servant, Akbar Ali, 30, son of Abdul Ghaffar, was killed in Sharifabad police's remits. Police said the deceased, who was an employ of Pakistan Customs, was hit by a single bullet on his head. The body was moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for legal formalities and later handed over to the heirs.
A bullet-riddled body of a worker of Karachi Port Trust (KPT) was recovered from the jurisdiction of Sharafi Goth police station. The victim was identified as Saleem Khan, 40, son of Hussain Khan, a resident of Usmanabad. Police said the deceased, who received multiple gunshots on his head, was kidnapped and then murdered by unknown culprits. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for autopsy.
Another man, Ehtishamul Haq, 27, son of Abdul Majeed, was shot dead outside his residence in Sector 4-D in the jurisdiction of Surjani Town police station. SHO Shabbir Hussain said that the deceased was a factory worker and had no affiliation with any party and the motive behind his killing was yet to be ascertained.
A man, Kashif, 30, was killed while two others, Khurram and Tauseef, were injured when unknown armed riders opened indiscriminate gunshots at a bakery in Orangi Town in the limits of Mominabad police station. SHO Nasir Mehmood said that the attackers' target was the shop owner, who was the worker of the Pakistan People's Party, but Kashif came in range of fire when he was busy in purchasing bakery items.
Another body of a youth was found at Mureed Goth. Police said the deceased, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, was killed after being kidnapped.
A 30-year-old, Arsalan, son of Ayub, was gunned down in D-1 Area in the limits of Khokhrapar police station. Police said the deceased had criminal records and might have been killed by his other associates.
An alleged member of the Lyari gangsters' group, Enayat Baloch, 38, son of Taj Mohammad, was targeted in Baloch Para in the limits of Super Market police station. Police said the deceased was residing in Ilyas Goth.
A man, Yawar Mehdi, 30, son of Hussain Ali, was killed near Goal Market in the precincts of Nazimabad police station. Police said the deceased, who used to run private business, had money dispute with someone and that might have been murdered over it. A bullet-riddled body of a man was found from Ranchore Lane in the limits of Risala police station. The identity of the victim was yet to be ascertained. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for autopsy and later moved to Edhi morgue.
