The row over dues between truckers and Nato contractors continues, as the 48-hour deadline set by the good suppliers for payment of the dues ended on Wednesday. Sources say that the transporters are firmed to keep their 1581 trucks loaded with Nato goods off the roads until their dues are cleared.
The transporters failed to invite the logistic companies' attention despite giving a 48-hour deadline.
They said that the transporters would holding their meeting on Thursday (today) to draw future line of action whether they will carry goods for the Nato forces. Transporters are stick to their demand of Rs1.51 billion as freight charges for the last eight months.
There is a possibility that the transporters could go on strike for indefinite period in protest for not getting their dues, sources said, adding that a meeting with logistic companies will however define the exact situation regarding the goods resumption.
Source said that police had also deployed nearly 50 mobile vans on different spots of the main highway across the provinces with 300 personnel to provide security to the Nato fuel and goods supplies.
However, police will not allow the supplies in convoys, as it believe such convoys will risk of attacks by the militants.
