Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haidar Khan Hoti has said that promotion of education is the only way out to confronting challenges and current situation. He said that his government has already allocated 4 per cent of the provincial GDP to education in this connection and revolutionary steps have been introduced in primary to higher education sectors.
He was talking German Parliament member, Mrs. Elke Hoff, German Ambassador to Pakistan Cyrill Nunn and Counselor Mrs Antije Grawe were also present on the occasion. Matters pertaining to collective situation of the region, development strategy of the province, look after of IDPs, German Aid, foreign investment and bilateral relations remained under discussion during the meeting.
The chief minister apprised the delegation of government's special initiatives in different sectors including education, law and order and construction and development along with financial assistance to children of backward districts enrolled to 100 private schools and considerable increase in budget of higher education.
He said that nine universities were established in the province during the 60 year compare to establishment of eight universities during the last four years.
He threw light on Bacha Khan Khpal Rozgar scheme and said that thousand of youth are earning livelihood for their families due to this scheme worth Rs3 billion. He said that initially the rate of investment in the province was Rs4.5 billion that comprised of 80 per cent loans and 20 per cent grants, added, currently the investment is Rs23 billion comprising 20 per cent loans and 80 per cent grants.
He said that increased oil and gas resources and considerable hydel power generation capacity are the future of the province and the royalty in connection with oil and gas has increased to more than Rs20 billion from mere 350 million. He said that to benefit from these resources, the journey towards the establishment of own oil and gas company of the province is progressing.
