KARACHI: On Thursday, PKR gained value against USD in interbank and open markets in accordance with global trend of weakening dollar as investors opted for riskier assets against safe havens. PKR also exhibited slight gain against Euro in open market.
INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee went up by 25 paisas for both buying and selling against USD over yesterday's rates closing at 160.05 and 160.15 respectively.
OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR went up by 30 paisas for both buying and selling against USD over yesterday’s rates closing at 160 and 160.30 respectively.
Against Euro, PKR remained unchanged for buying while gaining 10 paisas for selling closing at 194 and 195.40 respectively.
Against UAE Dirham, PKR gained 5 paisas for both buying and selling closing at 43.45 and 43.65 respectively.
Against Saudi Riyal, PKR gained 10 paisas for both buying and selling closing at 42.35 and 42.50 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee failed to sustain its day earlier recoveries against the American dollar in the local currency market on Thursday.
The trading activity of the US dollar commenced on a positive note and kept on rising following fresh buyers’ interest in the market. As a result, the dollar gained 10 paisas and ended higher for buying and selling at Rs 160.30 and Rs 161.30 against the overnight closing rate of Rs 160.20 and Rs 161.20 respectively, local currency dealers said.
Similarly, the local currency continued to keep going down for the third consecutive day against the pound sterling. Consequently, the pound’s buying and selling rates further rose from Wednesday’s closing trend of Rs 213.50 and Rs 215.20 respectively, they added.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee recovered 50 paisas against the dollar at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Thursday.
The dollar opened at Rs160.70(buying) and Rs 160.80(selling) against last rate of Rs161.20(buying) and Rs 161.30(selling).
It closed at Rs160.70(buying) and Rs 160.80(selling).
The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold was Rs. 110,250(selling) and Rs110,000(buying) at the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
