Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amir Haider Khan Hoti has approved Rs 10 million as one-time grant-in-aid for Endowment Fund for Mohammad Azam Khan Special Education Centre Charsadda for financial year 2012-13. The said center, an NGO for deaf and dumb children was established in 1999 by Anjuman Naujawanan Charsadda.
Presently 78 students are enrolled to the centre and there was no such institute in the area earlier to this centre. The chief minister approved Rs 10 million as one time grant for the centre keeping its fruitfulness and financial constraints of the institute.
According to a survey carried out earlier to establishment of this institute, a total of 4,500 children are deaf and dumb; out of which 2,000 deaf are below the age of 12. A total of 754 students benefited so far from the institute.
