Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Mir Changez Khan Jamali has said that the government has decided to issue 3G technology licences in near future. Speaking at the launching ceremony of Huawei' smart phone, Ascend P1, at a grand ceremony on Wednesday night, he said that introduction of smart phone would encourage young people to get information about 3G technology.
He expressed the hope that launching of Huawei products in Pakistan will create new jobs in the country, besides introducing new and advance technology. "Pakistan and China are joined by mountains and rivers. But our most valuable asset is the respect and love the people of both the countries have for each other. Our proud nations are inheritors of ancient civilisations, which have been influencing each other for millennia. We are doing business today and we did business thousands of years ago through the Silk Route," he added.
The minister said that there was a huge scope for enhancing bilateral trade volume and business communities of the two sides should be encouraged to explore new avenues of co-operation in trade and commerce. Chairman Link Communication, Shokat Hayat Pracha said that Huawei was the second largest telecom company of world providing services in 140 countries.
He said that Huawei annual turnover was more than 32.2 billion dollars and it was providing solutions to all the telecom companies in Pakistan. He said Huawei aimed to establish China's cell phone brand in Pakistan through the launch of Ascend P1. He expressed the hope that Ascend P1 will soon get huge market share in Pakistan as it has duel core, 1.5 GHz,TI OMAP, 4460 cortoxt A9 processor etc.
CEO Huawei Pakistan, Saimon, said that the company had started its operation in 1988 with only 20 people strength. "I would say that though Pakistan and China are close friends, we should try to know each other better. We have to understand how business fits into the overall fabric of our societies, as well as into the evolving regional and global scenarios," he added. He said Huawei has signed an agreement with Link Communication for distribution of smart phone in Pakistan. Those present include Moazzam Pracha, Muzaffar Pracha, Zubair Motiwala, Shamoon Zaki, Sikander Padela, Consul General of China and others.
