As per decisions of meeting held under Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, the package of relief and subsidy worth Rs 2.5 billion was announced, and during briefing by Sindh Food Department regarding Ramazan Package-2012, a Committee of Secretaries was constituted.
As such, the government of Sindh has decided to provide 200,000 tonnes of wheat during the holy month of Ramazan to facilitate the consumers to have Atta in hand on more economic rate which is reduced to Rs 23 per kg and supplies of Atta have been arranged throughout the province.
As per decision, under "Sindh Government Ramazan Package - 2012", the region wise distribution of the allocated quantity of 200,000MTs wheat has been made. As per details, Karachi region has been allocated 90,000MTs, Hyderabad region 35,000MTs, Sukkur Region 45,000MTs, Mirpurkhas Region 15,000MTs and Larkana Region has been allocated 15,000MTs.
Sindh Food Department has announced the releases from July 18, 2012 by providing wheat to flour mills at the rate of Rs 1875 per 100 kg bag (plus Rs 115 cost of bardana). As per decisions, the Deputy Directors/District Food Controllers concerned will be responsible to ensure the packing of Atta under fixed rate of Rs 23 per kg (Rs 230 per 10 kg Thailla) alongwith date of production, price and its origin.
They will manage the distribution of the releases specifically for Ramazan Package will be made to the millers strictly observing the provisions of the policy and maintaining transparency. The directives further envisaged that it must be ensured that actual number of package of 10 kg are prepared and delivered at specified out lets by the millers against the quality to individual unit for ensuring availability of Atta in the packing of 10 kg each for smooth distribution.-PR
