A most-wanted criminal was gunned down in an encounter late Wednesday night in a locality near here. Saleem Mithu, on whose head the Punjab government offered a head money of Rs 500,000, was killed in an encounter with Peoples Colony Police. One of his accomplice, named Ghafoori, is said to have escaped.
According to Police Inspector Aamer Waheed, Saleem Mithu of Kot Muhammad Khan was involved in over 50 criminal cases, including 13 cases in police stations in Faisalabad. He said that all cases had been registered against Mithu over the past three years after he was declared a proclaimed offender. Peoples Colony Police has registered a case under sections 353,186, 324/34 PPC.
