Senior tribal leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Nawabzada Fazal Karim Afridi has opposed the merger of Federally Administration Tribal Areas with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying it wasn't workable idea and against the aspiration of the tribal people.
Addressing at Mulaaqat Programme of Khyber Union of Journalists (KhUJ) here at Peshawar Press Club on Thursday, he said unification was totally impracticable forum, which could not be implemented at cost in Fata. "Tribal people have own traditional norms and culture, which won't be undermined by merging with the settled areas," he argued, and said Fata should consider any separate entity "Qabalistan" to amicable resolution issues confronting tribal region in the current situation.
Flanked by KhUJ President Arshad Aziz Malik, General Secretary Ali Hazrat Bacha and other members, he said perplex situation was existed in presence of the security forces, adding the tribal people were facing miserable condition in the prevailing conflict situation.
"Tribal people are patriotic and peaceful, who rendered lives for their motherland and played important role for protection of border areas", he opined. He further added a large number of innocent tribesmen had been killed in so-called war against terrorism in this region.
He said bombardment and shelling had completely razed the houses, roads and basic infrastructure in tribal areas, whereas tribal people were killed in the prolonged security forces operations in the Fata. Fazal Karim, who is also honorary Consul General of Japan in Peshawar, said the tribesmen weren't terrorists but terrorism had been escalated after launching unjustified military assaults in their respective areas. He criticised that the elected representatives from FATA had failed to address the issues confronted by their respective areas.
He said that country was facing worst kind of crisis due to wrong policies of the ruling coalition government, adding the rampant corruption was undermined the country economically, whereas no serious step was taken to address key issue of energy shortage, unemployment and containing the growing price hike. "I had served with Awami National Party (ANP) for a longer period of 40 years, but resigned as felt that party lost its direction and ignored its manifesto," he informed.
PTI leader said the corrupt rulers would never be well-wisher of the poor masses, who spent four and half year in their vested interest, and did nothing to address the major issues of the country. "I am not against the ANP, but it was supporting those forces, who were not supporter of tribal people", he added.
"We need an honest leadership to steer the country out from the prevailing messy situation, he viewed, added that PTI Chairman Imran Khan was only hope for the people, who would change the destiny of the nation. Fazal Karim urged the masses to reject the corrupt rulers with power of vote in the next general election. "We want end of the inheritance politics in the country, and support a young leadership for prosperous and develop future," he maintained. He claimed the looted national exchequer would bring back to country, if PTI came to power.
Afridi expressed the grave concern over restoration of Nato supply route and drone attacks in tribal areas, terming that decision wasn't taken in better national interest. He, on the occasion, informed that tribal people would launch an organised campaign for creation of "Qabalistan" very soon, for which they had supported by more than 45,000 tribal people.
