KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 223,474 tonnes of cargo comprising 160,496 tonnes of import cargo and 62,978 tonnes of export cargo including 7,976 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 160,496 tonnes comprised of 58,242 tonnes of containerised cargo; 14,957 tonnes of bulk cargo; 7,000 tonnes of rock phosphate; 18,906 tonnes of wheat; 2,793 tonnes of soyabean and 58,598 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 62,978 tonnes comprised of 44,993 tonnes of containerised cargo and 17,985 tonnes of clinker.

As many as 7,976 containers comprising of 4,515 containers import and 3,461 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,113 of 20’s and 1,383 of 40’s loaded while 252 of 20’s and 192 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,032 of 20’s and 758 of 40’s loaded containers while 115 of 20’s and 399 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely Paxi, Chembulk Ulsan, Mahavir and Wooyang Elite carrying containers, tanker, mogas and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. Actuaria, OOCL Guangzhou, Southampton Express, Scirocco, Chembulk Ulsan and Panagia Korona carrying containers, tanker, chemical and clinkers respectively currently at the berths.

There is one ship namely Xin Qing Dao carrying containers expected to sail on Thurssday.

There are four vessels viz. Botany Bay, Hyundai Prestige, X-Press Guernsey and Aeolia carrying containers and wheat respectively due to arrive on Thursday while three vessels viz. Nordspring, KMTC Mumbai and SOL carrying containers and tanker respectively are expected to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 199,368 tonnes comprising 135,937 tonnes of import cargo and 63,431 tonnes of export cargo including 3,662 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 135,937 tonnes includes 80,112 tonnes of coal; 4,525 tonnes of LNG; 2,198 tonnes of LPG; 10,649 tonnes of palm oil; 4,498 tonnes of palm kernel; 15,000 tonnes of chemical; 5,636 tonnes of canola and 13,319 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 63,431 tonnes includes 7,172 tonnes of cement and 56,259 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,662 containers comprising of 701 containers import and 2,961 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were six ships namely Maersk Kinloss, MSC Asya, Steller Eagle, Gas Arma, LNG Duhail and Horizon carrying containers, coal, LPG, LNG and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely New Horizon carrying coal is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of seven ships were occupied berths to load/offload cement, coal, canola, palm kernel and chemical respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as twenty four vessels viz. Express Athens, Express Guernsey, Cape Male, Chipol Brok Sun, Inca Queen, SN Harmony, Bunun Noble, Ageri, SSI Turmph, African Tern, Happy Kestrel, Emmaris-2, VSC Posidon, Blue Cat, Epic Bermuda, Gas Athena, Glory Harvest, PGC Preos, White Purl, Songa Chall NGC, Navig-8 Saph, Aristidis, Corona and Stena Impeceable carrying containers, general cargo, steel coil, coal, wheat, cement, rice, LPG and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were seven ship viz. Express Guernsey, Cape Male, Maersk Athens, Ageri, SSI Turmph, Glory Harvest and Aristidis carrying containers, coal, LPG mix and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There were two ships namely Express Guernsey and Cape Male carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
