ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) on Monday constituted a sub-body to look into the issues within the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), and other sports federations in the aftermath of the 18th Constitutional Amendment.

The committee met with MNA Agha Hassan Baloch in the chair, and discussed in detail the issues within the PSB and the various sports federations.

Taking notice of the affairs within various sports boards as well as the PSB, the panel constituted its sub-committee with a mandate to look into the issues of the PSB and other sports federations in the country.

Iqbal Mohammad Ali Khan has been nominated as the convener of committee while Munawara Bibi Baloch, Shahida Rehmani, and Rasheed Ahmad Khan as its members.

The agenda item about a question moved by Mahreen Razzaq Bhutto regarding the annual income and expenditure of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the last three years was deferred due to non presence its chairman.

The committee also directed the PCB to present its report in the next meeting, and also instructed the chairman PCB to ensure his presence in the upcoming meeting of the committee.

However, according to a statement provided to the committee, the unaudited income of the PCB for year 2019 was Rs 10.696 billion, Rs 5.131 billion in 2018, and Rs 4.373 billion in 2017. The total expenditures for the year 2019 remained Rs 5.947 billion, Rs 5.136 billion in 2018, and Rs 4.034 billion in 2017.

The deficit / surplus after tax remained Rs 4.420 billion in 2019, Rs 133 million in 2018, and Rs 215 million in 2017, according to the PCB document.

The committee also discussed the proposed legislation with regard to prevention of offences in sports in detail, and directed the ministry to adopt the proper procedure for its early passage.

While discussing the performance and achievements of the Karate Federation (KF), Karate Federation general secretary Andleeb Sandhu briefed the committee regarding the international achievements of the karate team in detail. The committee appreciated the performance of Pakistan Karate Federation.

The meeting was attended by MNAs Mebhoob Shah, Gul Dad Khan, Gul Zafar Khan, Rubina Jamil, Munawara Bibi Baloch, Shaheen Naz Saifullah, Mohammad Hashim, Iqbal Mohammad Ali Khan, Ali Zahid, Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali Bhinder, Rana Mubashir Iqbal, Mohammad Afzal Khokhar, Rasheed Ahmad Khan, Zulfiqar Ali Behan, Shahida Rehmani, Nasiba Channa, Mohammad Anwar, Mahreen Razzaq Bhutto, and senior officials of the ministry.
