ISLAMABAD: World’s second-largest stock exchange, Nasdaq Stock Market has congratulated the leadership of the US Pakistan International Chamber of Commerce (USPICC) for opening its overseas office in Islamabad, facilitating investors of both the countries.

Nasdaq displayed congratulatory message at the Nasdaq Market Site Tower in Times Square, New York City. The Nasdaq MarketSite Tower stands seven stories tall in the middle of Times Square, New York City is approximately 1/4 acre and 10,000 square feet of signage; and consists of nearly 19 million light-emitting diodes (LEDs).

The development came after the Chairman of USPICC M Siddique Sheikh recently appointed Muhammad Ahmed as President of Pakistan Chapter while Malik Sohail Hussain has been appointed as Secretary-General.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, both the leaders of the USPICC appreciated the great honour by Nasdaq, having about US$22 trillion market capitalization of its listed companies.

Both the leaders expressed strong commitment to play a role in building and expanding strong commercial ties between the US and Pakistan from the USPICC’s platform. The US is one of the largest trading partners of Pakistan and USPICC’s key mission is to facilitate expanding this relationship in various fields and sectors.

USPICC is a member-based, not-for-profit, trade and business organization, based in the Washington DC Metro area and with an office in New York City, serving as an economic bridge between the United States, Pakistan and other countries. USPICC’s predecessor (Pakistan American Business Association) was established in 1986.

USPICC primarily serves businesses, non-profits, students, professionals, academics, educational institutions and trade bodies. Since its inception, USPICC has continuously pursued its key mission of promoting trade and investments to enhance job growth and economic prosperity between the United States and Pakistan through global trade delegation exchanges, collaboration and partnerships. Over time, USPICC has organized numerous business delegations to and from Pakistan and has also worked very closely with state and local governments to advocate for its US based members.

Muhammad Ahmed and Malik Sohail also congratulated ratification of Joe Biden’s victory and hoped that he will play his role in strengthening the relationship between US and Pakistan. Further, they hope that he will help reduce conflicts and miseries around the world.

They expressed hope that the global situation of human rights, trade and political disputes and peace would improve under Biden administration, while the world may unite to tackle the pandemic and its impact of the world.

Our leadership should also try its best to promote Pakistan’s interest in the expected change in the global political environment so that the economy can progress as Joe Biden is set to take an oath as the new president of the United States.

We will try best to promote the interests of the business community of both the countries and serve Pakistani business community to find opportunities in the US market, leaders of the USPICC added.
