KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 203,934 tonnes of cargo comprising 148,615 tonnes of import cargo and 54,319 tonnes of export cargo including 11,077 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargos of 148,615 tonnes comprised of 66,743 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,503 tonnes of DAP; 11,769 tonnes of iron scrape; 21,773 tonnes of wheat; 11,113 tonnes of petcoke; 1,714 tonnes of soyabean and 31,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 54,319 tonnes comprised of 46,877 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,942 tonnes of iron powder and 3,500 tonnes oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 11,077 containers comprising of 5,424 containers import and 5,653 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 894 of 20’s and 2,123 of 40’s loaded while 146 of 20’s and 69 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 955 of 20’s and 1,001 of 40’s loaded containers while 768 of 20’s and 964 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely RDO Fortune, Diyala, Liberty and Star Hudrus carrying containers, tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. Paris Express, Ever Ursula, Vancouver, Ulanga, Hyundai Colombo, MT Quetta and STI Queens carrying containers and tankers respectively currently at the berths.
There are four ships namely Paris Express, Oriental Daphine, Mega Benefit and MV Jupiter carrying containers, tanker, soyabean and steel respectively expected to sail on Thursday while two ships namely MT Quetta and Aeolia carrying tanker and wheat respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
There are three vessels viz. Carl Schulte, Bella Trix-I and Bulk Orion carrying containers and DAP respectively due to arrive on Thursday while four vessels viz. AS Sicilia, Botany Bay, Northern Dedication and Pluto Leader carrying containers and units respectively are expected to arrive on Friday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 164,390 tonnes comprising 114,235 tonnes of import cargo and 50,155 tonnes of export cargo including 2,808 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 114,235 tonnes includes 22,921 tonnes of coal; 37,500 tonnes of LNG; 12,846 tonnes of gas oil; 13,500 tonnes of palm oil; 7,600 tonnes of wheat; 6,000 tonnes of chemical; 2,468 tonnes of LPG and 11,400 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 50,155 tonnes includes 6,010 tonnes of cement; 2,193 tonnes of bitumen and 41,952 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,808 containers comprising of 600 containers import and 2,208 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were two ships namely MSC Lucy and Maersk Sentosa carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while hour ships namely IVS North Berwick, Gas Arma, Damas and Eva Usuki carrying coal, LPG, mogas and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, bitumen, talcum powder, coal, cement, wheat, chemical, LPG, LNG, gas oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as sixteen vessels viz. Cape Male, CMA CGM Ivanhoe, Western Oslo, Dias, Pola Ariere, DM Emerald, Gas Zeus, Gas, Athena, Hawassa, Amar, Sloman Hebe, Eva Usuki, Elenore, Silver Esther, Chemroad Rose and Silver Dubai carrying containers, coal, rice, cement, wheat, chemical, LPG, naphtha and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five ships viz. Cape Male, CMA CGM Ivanhoe, Maersk Arham, Hawassa and Chemroad Rose carrying containers, naphtha and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There was one ship namely Maersk Arham carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday while two ships namely Safmarine Ngami and Baltic Bridge carrying containers are due to arrive on Friday.
