Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the people are gearing up to teach a lesson to the corrupt rulers in the forthcoming general elections. He was talking to the delegations of people and workers of Pakistan Muslim League-N from Green Town, Township and other adjoining areas here on Monday, disclosed an official.
Member National Assembly Naseer Ahmed Bhutta, Member Provincial Assembly Ramazan Siddique Bhatti, Commissioner Lahore, District Co-ordination Officer Lahore, LDA Director General, Wasa Managing Director and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
He said as result of extreme load-shedding the industries of Punjab (including agriculture and other sectors) had been brought to a catastrophic end and thousands of people had been rendered jobless. He said the country was facing the worst load-shedding in its history and now people had to bear agonising load-shedding even during the times of Iftari and Sehar, but the conscienceless rulers were unmoved. "In order to shake the sleeping conscience of the rulers, I have established a tent office to point out that Punjab is being discriminated against with regard to load-shedding and the incompetent rulers of the country have vexed the nation as result of their loot and plunder," he added.
He pointed out that bribe worth billions of rupees was gobbled up in rental power projects, whereas highhandedness was being committed against Punjab by handing over the earnings of profit-giving companies of Punjab to those companies which were going in loss. He lamented that two projects at Chicho Ki Malyian and Nandi Pur aimed at generating 900 megawatt of electricity could not be made operational because of incompetence and corruption of the Federal government.
