PESHAWAR: PM Imran Khan on Wednesday announced the launch of 3G and 4G internet services in South Waziristan to ensure the technological development of tribal districts.

Addressing a gathering of tribal notables during a cheque distribution ceremony under the Kamyab Jawan Programme, the PM said that the launch of high-speed internet was in line with bringing development in South Waziristan.

He said development of tribal areas was government’s top priority with special emphasis on the education sector and provision of livelihoods to the people of the areas.

He said that apart from giving scholarships to the youth, schools, colleges, universities and technical institutes will be established in the tribal districts.

He said the loans under the Kamyab Jawan Programme are just the beginning and its scope will be further expanded. He said more funds will be added from next year in this programme. The premier said that road infrastructure will also be developed so that the farmers could easily take their produce to the markets. Referring to the potential of the area in the olive oil production, he said a massive plantation will be started in the tribal areas from next month.

He said this project will enhance the income level of the people and they will not be required to find jobs in other cities.

The PM said that each family in the tribal districts will be provided with a health insurance card under which they will be able to get medical treatment worth seven hundred thousand rupees per year.

Prime Minister Imran Khan was on a day-long visit to South Waziristan to launch several development projects.

Regarding the plan to plant olive trees, the PM said that by planting olive trees in South Waziristan, we will bring a revolution.

He furthermore maintained that Waziristan is the best area for olive trees in the world. Olive trees will be planted here from next month. The olive tree will be handed over to the locals for protection. The income from the olive tree will be so much that you will not have to go to Karachi or Dubai, he added.
