As many as 27 shopkeepers were fined for total Rs 17300 and two other were awarded imprisonment by Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad, Agha Shahnawaz Babar and other Revenue officers on account of charging high prices from the consumers.
According to details available to this office, the Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Agha Shahbawaz Babar, Additional Deputy Commissioner-I Aijaz-ul-Hassan, Assistant Commissioner Hyderabad City, Imtiaz Mangi, AC Qasimabad Nazir Ahmed Abro, AC Latifabad, Rashid Mehmood Siddiqui paid surprised visits at different markets separately and found many shopkeepers defaulters.
They warned the illegal profiteers to avoid from charging high prices. During the raid, AC Hyderabad City recovered fine of Rs 5000 from 5 illegal profiteers and sent two defaulters to jail. Similarly AC Qasimabad recovered fine of Rs 7000 from 5 illegal profiteers while AC Latifabad recovered fine of Rs 3300 from 15 shopkeepers for charging high prices. Besides AC Taluka Hyderabad (Rural) recovered Rs 2000 from two illegal profiteers.
The Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Agha Shahnawaz Babar warned the shopkeepers to avoid for charging high prices. He said that though administration was taking action against defaulters but it would increase the velocity of its action against the illegal profiteers.
