The continued violence and target killing in the city have badly hit the public transport sector, as at least 20 mini buses are converted into trucks for rising insecurity, transporters said here on Wednesday. The desperate transporters said the government should take notice of the worsening situation leading to a permanent collapse to the city's public transport sector.
They said if the situation of buses conversion continued at same pace, the city is likely to have no public transport plying on its roads to facilitate the million of commuters. They said the big buses are being scarped in the Shersha market as transporters are gradually losing their business in the field. They also held the unregistered "Qinqi" an auto-rickshaw service in the city responsible for the decline in the transport sector, besides the government's lack of interest.
