Towel Manufacturers' Association of Pakistan (TMA), Southern Circle has pointed out that IT operational system at the Customs House here suffered from two major flaws. In a letter sent to Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Ali Arshad Hakeem, TMA Chairman Moin A Razzak said that after the introduction of Web Based One Custom (Weboc) system in custom house, exporters filed duty drawback claims through online, giving all the required information on data base or filing duty drawback through scanned copy.
The Processing Officer at Weboc, however, demands original documents from the exporter which is not justifiable as there is no room for manual work in IT system. Although in sales tax, all exporters file their sales tax return every month but IT system does not accept filing of their returns. The data is accepted only after co-ordination with Inland Revenue Department. Razzak also facilitated the new FBR Chairman on his appointment and expressed the hope that he would ensure close co-ordination between the government and members of business community.
