Rain-affected families in Sindh: 1.248 million Pakistan Cards so far issued by NADRA
National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has so far issued 1.248 million Pakistan Cards to eligible heads of rain affected families in Sindh. The Authority has deployed communication networks, implemented biometric solutions and installed hardware on sites to ensure transparency in issuance of Pakistan Card under which a cash tab of Rs 20,000 in two equal instalments would be given to flood affectees.
According to Nadra official here on Wednesday, around Rs 12.14 billion were disbursed among victims' families under Pakistan Card project. He said the Authority has been working with Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and Government of Sindh and set up special centres for issuance and processing of Pakistan Cards in nearly all major flood-hit districts.
The official said the relief aid beneficiary list is validated by Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) which is carrying out registration of affected families with the assistance of district administration while Nadra is technically assisting to ensure transparency in cash disbursement by using Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) and Facial Recognition System (FRS).
Besides processing Pakistan Cards, he said, Nadra is also processing the duplicate cards for those who have lost it in flood, and new Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICss) for those who never had it Nadra has so far processed approximately more than 10,000 CNICs in lieu of fresh and duplicate cards free of cost on emergency basis.
