Pakistan Association for Difficulties In Learning (PADIL) Chief Executive Ashba Kamran has expressed concern over committing suicide by five students after announcement of matriculation results and said that slow learning is the main cause behind this trend.
She said suicide by five young students after their failure to get through the exam exposes the fault lines in our education system which is unable to support the slow learners in the society. She said the incidents of suicide are on the rise. Ashba further said that this is the right time to draw the attention of parents, teachers, legislators and civil society towards the problem of learning difficulties among students because of Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) and Dyslexia in children.
According to her, every third child in Pakistan is facing learning difficulties due to one or the other reason, leading to high dropout rate in schools. However, no serious effort is being made at the public or private levels to deal with the problem, pushing more and more children to successive failures in the field of education.
