The Rado True Thinline received the red dot design award 2012 and will be exhibited in the red dot design museums in Germany and Singapore. After an evaluation process lasting several days, a 30-member jury chose to honour Rado for their new accomplishment.
The Rado True Thinline, the extra-thin high-tech ceramic watch, was awarded the title of honourable mention as this timepiece particularly displays that design is an integral part of innovative product solutions. Slender, pure lines enclose a masterpiece of technology in the Rado True Thinline timepieces.
The vision of creating an extra-thin high-tech ceramic watch incorporating a one millimetre thin movement was turned into reality through the development of entirely new manufacturing process. High-tech ceramic fulfils the opposing characteristics of a fine/elegant appearance and a hardness of 1,250 Vickers. Weighing just 35 grams and with a height of only 4.9 millimetres, the Rado True Thinline sets new standards in lightness and comfort. The red dot design award, founded in the 1950s, is carried out in three disciplines: product design, communication design and design concept. In 2011, more than 14,000 entries from over 70 countries were registered. The red dot award is established internationally as one of the most prestigious quality seals for outstanding design.
Over the past 10 years Rado has won several red dot product awards; for the Rado V10K in 2003, Rado True Active Wrist Watch in 2007, Rado True Chronograph Matt in 2009, Rado r5.5 in 2010 and Rado Ceramica Digital in 2011. The award-winning Rado True Thinline will be displayed in the red dot design museum in Essen, Germany, the world's largest permanent exhibition of contemporary design till July 29, as well as in the red dot design museum in Singapore, from August 1, 2012 to July 2013.-PR
