The admission for first-year classes in the 132 public sector colleges of city under the Centralised Admission Policy (CAP) will begin on Friday (today). Director General Colleges Sindh/Chairman CAP Committee-2012 Dr Nasir Ansar said the CAP brochures, containing placement forms, could be obtained from banks for Rs 60 from 42 designated branches of Meezan Bank. The last date of obtaining and submission of placement form is August 10.
He said that in all 100,015 seats were available in the city's 132 government colleges including 67 male and 65 female) and 24 Higher Secondary Schools in six different faculties. The faculties included science (pre-engineering and pre-medical), computer science, commerce, humanities and home economics. Dr Nasir said that candidates failed in one or two papers in matriculation exams were also eligible to apply for admission at colleges.
"These failed candidates will be given conditional admissions at colleges. If they will pass their Matric supplementary exams, scheduled to be held in upcoming months, then their admission to be considered confirm", Nasir added. Of the total 100,015 seats available in the colleges, 47,490 seats have been allocated for male candidates while 52,525 seats are available for female candidates and their faculty-wise break up include a total of 23,830 seats for pre-engineering group (15,250 male and 8,580 female); 16,835 for pre-medical (5,740 male and 11,095 female); 1,500 for computer science (800 male and 700 female); 34,470 for commerce (20,300 male and 14,170 female); 22,780 for humanities (5,400 male and 17,380 female) and a total of 600 seats for home economics group.
CAP committee has also established 16 claim centres including nine for female and seven for male candidates. The female centres are: Sir Syed Government Girls College, Nazimabad; Government College for Women, Korangi-4; Khursheed Government Girls College, Shah Faisal Colony; BAMM PECHS Government College for Women, Nursery; Shaheed-e-Millat Government Girls College, Azizabad; Government College for Women, Shahrah-e-Liaquat; Government Degree Science and Commerce College, Block 7, Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Government Girls Inter College, Moosa Lane, Lyari.
The male centres have been set up at Adamjee Government Science College; Government Superior Science College, Shah Faisal Colony; D J Government Science College; Jinnah Government College, near Secondary Board's office; Government College for Men, Nazimabad and Government College for Boys & Girls SRE Majeed Stadium Road. On this occasion Co-ordinator of Sindh Education Minister Naveed Zubairi and Senior Vice President Meezan Bank Limited were also present.
