LAHORE: Chicken meat price has dropped by Rs50 per kilogram during the last one week after touching an all time high price of Rs365 per kilogram on last Sunday. Today, rates of chicken meat were Rs315 per kilograms while live chicken was sold at Rs217 per kilogram. It showed that Rs35 per kilogram reduction in the live chicken rates during the current weak as compared to last Sunday.
Nevertheless, rates of eggs had shown an upward trend as these were sold at Rs166 per dozen in the market on Saturday as compared to Rs158 per dozen on last Sunday.
Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA) Punjab chapter spokesman Raza Khursand while talking to Business Recorder said that ups and downs in the prices of chicken meat is part of poultry business. He said fixation of prices in egg or poultry meat is determined on demand and supply.
He said that increase in egg prices was due to short production as compared to the demand. He, however, rejected that dip in prices was because of a social media trend demanding boycotting the chicken meat due to its high prices.
