ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Railways Azam Swati said on Sunday that there is complete protection to the Upper-House proceedings under the Constitution and these cannot be challenged anywhere.
Speaking at a media conference along with chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani and defense Minister Pervez Khattak, the minister said that this (chairman senate and deputy chairman election) was not an Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) election but of the Upper House of the Parliament, therefore it can not be challenged anywhere. He further stated that neither Election Act nor anything else could come against it as there is protection to the proceedings of the Senate under two clauses of the Constitution. He said that the opposition can strike its head against the wall.
He said that said he would like to thank leaders and senators for election of Sadiq Sanjrani for the next three year. Swati said that Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has completely rejected Maulana Fazlur Rehman candidate, which proves that there is no place for Maulana in the PDM.
He said that political bickering in PDM simply reflects that all the political parties under the alliance have gathered to protect their interests.
There narrative was defeated, said Swatii, while asking the opposition to let the government complete its reforms agenda during the remaining period of its tenure. We will be contesting election against the opposition in the next elections, said Swati,
The minister said that the electoral reforms is positive and good the country and if the opposing really wanted to play a role for transparent election then it contribute by bringing about reforms through the law so that everyone should now who had given vote to whom. The minister said that he has proposed 39 amendments in the Election Act and asked the opposition to support the changes for transparent election to do away the use of money.
While Defence Minister Pervez Khattak said that after betraying each other, political parties in PDM are now blaming institutions.
