The Rawalpindi bench of Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday extended the interim bail of Ali Musa Gilani, son of former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, and former Health Minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin till August 6 in Ephedrine quota allotment case. A division bench comprising Justice Shekih Najam-ul-Hassan and Justice Shahzad Ahmad extended the interim bail of Ali Musa Gilani and Makhdoom Shahabuddin till August 6 because their counsel did not appear before the court.
Earlier, the court directed them to appear before the investigation team of Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and record their statements by 4pm on Monday. The court told them that if they failed to cooperate with ANF their bail pleas would be rejected. The investigation officer of ANF informed the court that Musa and the Makhdoom were not co-operating in investigations.
Former Director General (DG) Health Dr Rasheed Ahmed Jumma and former director of Pharma Company Rizwan Ahmed withdrew their bail pleas. The ANF official informed the court that the two defendants had decided to become approvers in the case against Musa and Makhdoom. Therefore, they do not require bail anymore. Meanwhile, the court reserved its verdict on a bail plea filed by former Deputy Controller Drug Abdus Sattar Sorani.
