Pakistan has received total foreign assistance of $21.3 million including a grant of $1.5 million in the first month of fiscal year 2012-13. Documents available with this scribe show that in the first month of current fiscal year, Pakistan did not receive any support from multilateral like Asian Development Bank (ADB), World Bank and Islamic Development Bank (IDB).
Data shows that the US was a major grant provider to the country in the last fiscal year 2011-12 with an amount of $114 million. It provided a project aid of $1.5 million through USAID in July 2012. The largest foreign assistance provider to Pakistan during July 2012 was UK, which released $17.08 million project assistance through UK Department for International Development. The European Union (EU) released $4.12 million, Netherlands $0.9 million and the United Nations (UN) through Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) disbursed $0.6 million.
Data shows that from July 2011 to date, Pakistan received $1.8 billion. All of the foreign assistance received is project aid not programme lending that the country has not been receiving for the last two years due to non-issuance of Letter of Comfort (LoC) from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
