At least three persons including a cop lost their lives in different incidents of violence in the city here on Monday. According to police and rescue sources, a constable, Sikandar, 46, son of Mir Hussain, was gunned down near his residence located in Metrovil area in the limits of SITE A Section police station. Police said two unknown armed riders targeted the deceased when he was on the way to Masjid to perform prayer.
He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) where he took his last gasp. Another man, Omar Kareem, son of Fahim, was shot dead while Akbar sustained injuries when unidentified shooters sprayed a volley of bullets on them near Landhi 89 in the jurisdiction of Quaidabad police station. Police said both the victims were labourers and at the time of incident, they were busy in buying foodstuff from a shop.
Yet another man, whose identity was yet to be ascertained, was gunned down in the limits of Airport police station. Police said that scores of people, who were chasing him from Pehlwan Goth area, caught him in Airport police station precincts and shot him dead, due to unexplained reasons. Further investigation was underway. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) and later moved to Edhi morgue. No case was registered till filing of this report.
