Petition for removal of U-turn: CTO to propose exclusive lane plan for ambulance
An exclusive lane for the ambulances running to the government hospitals would be fixed on the roads in the Lahore city. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Dr Usman told this to the Lahore High Court here on Monday in a petition filed against removal of U-turn in front of General Hospital to facilitate Rapid Transit Bus System (RTBS).
The CTO informed to the court that a plan has been prepared wherein in a lane shall be made exclusively available for the ambulances who would like to approach the government hospitals in the city. At this court observed that police should take necessary steps in this regard. The court also directed the officer to co-ordinate with all concerned agencies for implementation of the plan before submission of his report and adjourned the proceedings to 8th September.
Earlier court had expressed its dissatisfaction over a report submitted by Chairman Traffic Engineering and Planning Authority (TEPA). The court while rejecting the report had observed that how could the authorities be allowed to put the lives of patients at risk in the name of development.
