Law Enforcement Agencies on Monday claimed to have arrested around two dozens felons including a target killer and Lyari gangsters in separate raids at various parts of the metropolis. According to sources, the personnel of paramilitary rangers have conducted search operation at several parts of Lyari including Rexser Lane, Jhat Phat market and Singolane and detained some eight alleged Lyari gangsters with weapons.
The accused were shifted to unknown place for interrogation. Sources said the action was taken on a tip-off that led the said arrests and added that the rangers had also recovered huge quantity of drugs and weapons from their possession. Similarly, the Sindh police have claimed to have arrested some 14 criminals including a killer of some 300 persons in separate raids.
Official sources said Special Investigation Unit (SIU) had detained a target killer namely Javed alias Banda after brief encounter at Orangi Town. They said the accused was allegedly involved in the killings of some 300 persons. Police had recovered a Kalashnikov and a pistol from his custody. East Zone police have taken some 13 persons into custody from different areas including Khokarapar, PIB colony, Patel Para, Shah Faisal colony, Mobina Town, Darban Bazar, etc.
They said the detainees were identified as Tariq Zaman, Naqsh, Muhammad Shehbaz, Asif Khokar, Shehbaz alias Dangra, Gul Jalad Khan, Abdul Muneeb and Gul Zaman. They said the police had also recovered two snatched bikes, weapons and drugs from the detained persons. Further investigation was underway to nab other associates.
