Ramazan Bazaars, fair-price shops: daily-use items at subsidised rates: Punjab government
Secretary Industries Punjab Dr Shujaat Ali has said that Punjab government is ensuring provision of daily-use items at subsidised rates at Ramazan Bazaars and fare-price shops, where these items are available in abundance. The essential items of daily-use are being sold at Ramazan Bazaars at Rs 3 to RS 13 less than the market price.
While talking to journalist here on Monday he said that the rates of fair-price shops and Ramazan Bazaars are as follows: Potato at Rs 20/kg, Onions Rs 24/kg, lady finger Rs 28, bitter gourd Rs 22, round gourd Rs 22, Dates Rs 151, gram pulse Rs 80, gram flour Rs 82 and Rice Rs 87/kg.
Secretary Industries further informed that at 1500 Dastarkhwans, throughout the province, which includes Sehri and Aftari are arranged. He said that as many as 180192 bags of Atta were dispatched to Ramazan Bazaars, out of which 122164 flour bags have been sold. Similarly, on the 9th of Ramazan-ul-Mubarak, 175267 kg sugar was sold while 1449310 kg sugar has been sold in Ramazan Bazaars so far. Dr Shujaat Ali further apprised that 1312 monitoring teams had price magistrates and conducted 1202 raids, while 26 shopkeepers were arrested and cases, in relevant police stations, were registered against them on the charge of profiteering. He said that a fine of Rs 819601 has also been recovered from these shopkeepers.
